From the Home tab, tap "Start New Round." You can select from 660+ pre-loaded courses, search community courses, or create a custom course. If location is enabled, TeeMetrics will suggest nearby courses automatically. Select a course and bag, then start scoring with the quick-score buttons (one tap per hole) or detailed mode.
Quick-score lets you score any hole in a single tap. Five buttons appear for each hole: Eagle, Birdie, Par, Bogey, and Double. Tap one and you're done — the score is set instantly. For unusual scores (triple bogey, etc.), tap "Other Score..." to expand the +/- stepper.
During onboarding, tap the "Bag Setup" field to choose from 6 templates: Beginner, Standard, Low Handicap, Senior, Women's, and Junior. Each has realistic club selections and average distances. You can also change your bag anytime in the Bag tab — tap the + button and select "Reset to Template."
TeeMetrics includes 660+ pre-loaded courses across the US. When starting a round, use the search bar or browse by state. If your course isn't listed, tap "Create Custom Course" and enter the hole-by-hole data. You can also check "Community Courses" for courses shared by other users.
Pre-loaded course data may not be perfectly accurate — courses get renovated, tees change, and yardages shift. We recommend reviewing the par and yardage for each hole before your round and editing any that look off. Your corrections are saved locally.
After creating a custom course, you'll be asked "Share with Community?" Tap Share and the course data will be uploaded anonymously to the TeeMetrics community database. Other users can then discover and import your course. This requires an iCloud account.
All personal data (rounds, scores, stats, clubs) is stored locally on your device. The only data that leaves your device is if you choose to share a course with the community (anonymized course data via CloudKit) or share a round card/PDF with friends.
TeeMetrics uses your bag's average distances to suggest the right club for each shot. On the scoring screen, you'll see tips like "From 155 yds, your 7-iron averages 158. Hit it." The more shots you track, the more accurate recommendations become.
TeeMetrics supports three Siri Shortcuts: "Hey Siri, start a round in TeeMetrics" opens the app ready to play. "What's my handicap in TeeMetrics" reads your current index. "How did my last round go in TeeMetrics" reads your most recent score. These work hands-free on the course.
TeeMetrics uses a simplified version of the USGA handicap formula. It calculates score differentials for your most recent 20 rounds, selects the best differentials, averages them, and multiplies by 0.96. The handicap projection feature estimates where your handicap is heading based on your improvement rate. Please note these are approximations — for an official handicap, register with your local golf association or GHIN.
Strokes Gained compares your performance to a baseline in four categories: Off the Tee, Approach, Short Game, and Putting. Positive values mean you're gaining strokes (better than baseline), negative means you're losing strokes. TeeMetrics uses simplified PGA baselines. Strokes Gained is available after your first 5 rounds, or immediately with Pro.
Pro unlocks everything: advanced analytics and score trends, strokes gained breakdown, handicap projection, round comparison, club recommendations, goal setting, 17 achievements, streak tracking, practice session logging, 6 bag templates, PDF round reports, shareable round cards (Instagram feed and story formats), CSV export, community course sharing, smart notifications, and weekly recaps. Available as monthly ($4.99), yearly ($29.99 with 3-day free trial), or lifetime ($49.99).
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. Go to iPhone Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > TeeMetrics > Cancel Subscription. Your Pro features will remain active until the end of the current billing period. If you're on the 3-day free trial, cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the TeeMetrics purchase, and request a refund.
Yes! TeeMetrics includes a companion Apple Watch app for quick score entry during rounds. You can log scores and putts for each hole with color-coded feedback (red for birdie, green for par). The Watch syncs with your iPhone via WatchConnectivity so your data stays in sync.
Because all data is stored locally on your device, we cannot recover data that has been deleted or lost due to device issues. We strongly recommend periodically exporting your data as CSV to prevent data loss.
Try force-quitting and reopening the app. If the issue persists, restart your device.
TeeMetrics auto-saves as you score. If scores appear to be lost, ensure you haven't accidentally tapped "Delete All Data" in Settings. Check that your device has sufficient storage space.
Community courses require an iCloud account. Make sure you're signed into iCloud on your device (Settings > [Your Name]). If you see "Field not queryable" errors, the community database may still be setting up — try again in a few minutes.
After installing TeeMetrics, long-press your home screen, tap +, and search for "TeeMetrics." If it doesn't appear, try restarting your device. The widget shows your most recent round stats or live scoring during a round.
